Board appoints Dean to Augustana Faculty
February 07, 2006 -
Dr. Roger Epp, currently Acting Dean of Augustana Faculty, University of Alberta, has been appointed Dean of the Faculty effective July 1, 2006 for a five-year term.
Dr. Epp joined the faculty of Augustana University College in 1990 and is a professor of political studies at Augustana Faculty and an adjunct professor of political science in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta.
In announcing the appointment, Provost and Vice-President Academic, Dr. Carl Amrhein said "Dr. Epp has demonstrated remarkable commitment to Augustana Faculty and its constituents, to the University of Alberta, and to the region of Camrose. He brings a distinguished teaching and academic research career to the position as well as an ability to realize potential in partnerships among stakeholders to the overall benefit of the University of Alberta, our students and to the East Central region. "
Dr. Epp teaches primarily in international relations and political philosophy and received Augustana University College's Distinguished Teaching Award in 2001. He has recently focused his research on the challenges facing prairie rural communities and his research interests include rural political economy, settler-aboriginal relations, and agrarian political thought. As well, Dr. Epp is a frequent speaker and media commentator on rural issues. He is co-editor of Writing off the Rural West: Globalization, Governments and the Transformation of Rural Communities (2001) and Braving the New World: Readings in Contemporary Politics (2004).
A native of Saskatchewan, Dr. Epp is an alumnus of the University of Alberta and received a Master of Arts and PhD in political science from Queen's University in Kingston.
